7th year of Girls Camp

I spent last week Tuesday to Saturday at Girl's Camp as the Ward Girls Camp Director. It was really hot and humid and REALLY buggy (they have super big bugs down here)and sometimes really fun too. The first pic is the first day at the flag ceremony. We were smurfs (our ward, our theme was Divine nature and our color was blue). I made all those funny smurf hats for the girls. I actually made one and then took it to show them thinking they wouldn't want to wear it, but they all did. This is almost all the girls, we had 19 this year. Alot to keep track of, if you ask me!! I'm glad I just have 2 kids! The second pic is of my breakfast one morning. Biscuits and gravy and cheese grits. I did eat the biscuit and gravy, but only a bite of the grits. Those girls love grits though. I don't really know why. The last pic we staged a car wreck and I got to be pegged between a car and a tree. The severed arm was better.

Ok Ames, you made it! Congrats! Your a brave woman. However, I was a bit taken back when I saw the first pic. The hats reminded me of something....KKK? It is the south after all. I was relieved to find out ya'll were smurfs! Knowing you're pregnant, when I saw the food I thought, OK...morning sickness. The bisquit and gravy thing is big here too...Yucko! It did look like you had some fun and I bet the girls loved you. We sure do!! Good job!

I'm with yaya, I thought the of morning sickness too when I saw that food -- yucky! I sure hope it tasted better than it looked! The hats were crazy and the car wreck was pretty good too. Was it part of a first aid thing?

I'm glad you survived. I just got back from our camp. We just helped prepare and serve dinner. It was about 75, no bugs to speak of, nice warm breeze. Yep. Perfect. But keep in mind last Wednesday it tried to snow!

Now that it's over what will you do?

You were Girls' Camp director? Holy smokes, you are one brave lady! Good for you, but I don't know how you did it being pregnant. Especially if that breakfast was any indication of the rest of your meals. I'm exhausted just thinking of all the work you had to do.

I remember loving girls camp. It actually met all the needs; fun, recreational and spiritual. I have the best memories of my leaders and the activities and there is no doubt in my mind that you delivered the same experience for the young women. You are perfect for young women. You're beautiful, outgoing, athletic and spunky. Oh yeah and you have a testimony!

You really should win a "good sport" award! I'm so glad for your sake that it's over, but I can't imagine a better girls camp director. you throw the best parties and everyone loves to be around you! How could they go wrong? And you even eat grits (ICK) and pretend to be smashed by a car, all while having a very real pregnancy! I'm so impressed. I love the hats, too - and I thought I was being ambitious to consider making bandannas for Lydia's horse birthday party SAturday... :)

i LOVE grits! although ohioans think that I am crazy because I put sweet things on them.
have you been sick at all? I think the prego counters on blogs are really cheesy- but I can never remember how far along you are so I think you should put one up!
